Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How can I submit a roommate request for the school year?
A: Boarding Students may request a roommate through their Housing Application in the Housing Portal. The student you send a request to must accept the request, then you will need to "Verify" the roommate group to finalize the roommate pairing.

Q: What if I don’t have a specific roommate request? What are the criteria for being paired with a random roommate?
A: We pair students up based on gender and age/grade, first. Then we will use the answers from your Roommate Matching Questions in your Housing Application to find the most compatible roommate. Although we try to keep like-sports together, this is not a guaruntee when being assigned a random roommate.

Q: Can I have a single room?
A: We do offer single rooms at an additional cost. These are considered our Upgraded Housing rooms. You can check out our "Upgraded Housing Guide" on page XX in the Boarding School Prep Guide to view more information about these rooms. You can reach out to your assigned Boarding School Sales Advisor to learn more about this upgrade.

Q: What happens if I don’t get along with my assigned roommate after we move in? A: We always recommend that every student waits at least 2 weeks after moving in with a new roommate to allow time to settle in and adjust to the new environment before deciding you are incompatible as roommates. Students must reach out to their Primary Residential Mentor and make them aware of the roommate issues. The Mentor will assist each student in attempting to mediate the situation before ultimately deciding a room move might be necessary.

Q: What should I pack for the dorm room?
A: You can find a dorm packing list on page 13 of the Boarding School Prep Guide. You can also find a list of specific items to pack for each sport on page 14.

Q: Can my roommate and I rearrange our furniture when we move in?
A: There will be a list of approved room layouts that each roommate group can choose for their rooms when they move in. The students are responsible for setting up their rooms how they choose. However, beds are not to be lowered, unless the student has received special permission through Health Services. The furniture must be reset back to the “standard” set up prior to moving out of the room at the end of the year or both students may be subject to a room cleaning fee.
